Windsor Castle in Windsor, England

Windsor Castle is an official residence for the Royal Family nestled away in Windsor, England, about 23 miles away from London. A portion of the castle is open for visitors to see and experience the living spaces of royalty. No touching anything of course, but the rooms are gilded with gold and silks. The art has been diligently cared for throughout the centuries and it's possible to see decorative pieces from each era. The gardens are also well tended to as most renowned English gardens are. The gift shop is also a nice treat for any last minute souvenirs. My favorite part of visiting Windsor was not only seeing the castle, but the surrounding areas. This one is a must see.

Photos aren't permitted inside the palace or in the chapel but you are more than welcome to capture the outside of the building and the surrounding town. This is a popular site, so try to go early to beat the crowds and give yourself time to explore Windsor.
