Gütsch Funicular in Lucerne, Switzerland

The Gütsch Funicular or Gütschbahn is a funicular that connects the city center to a station adjacent to the Château Gütsch hotel. It was built in 1883 and took a hiatus between 2008 to 2015, until it was rebuilt and reopened. The line is operated by the city’s transport operator and is in zone 10 of the public transport network fare system. With two cars running, it leads riders up to an amazing lookout point and to the hotel Château Gütsch in just a minute and a half. There are paths to walk up the steep climb, but the ascent in the funicular offers spectacular views of Lake Lucerne.
