Longleat House in Warminster, England
Longleat is an English home in Warminster, home to the Marquesses of Bath. It served primarily as a residence and today has been renovated to be a family destination, with tours of certain parts of the house, a theme park, a safari park, gardens and a cafe. Lord Bath, a very eccentric figure, still resides there today. He is seen prowling the halls and gardens at time.A bit more of a gimmick than a historical site, it's still great to visit. The lands around the estate are massive and will provide hours of entertainment.

This site is accessible by car.
Frome Station is the closest station to Longleat and has a good service from Bath and London.
Warminster station, is about 5 miles from Longleat and is on the Cardiff to Portsmouth line.
Westbury station is about 12 miles from Longleat and is on the London Paddington to Penzance line.
All stations can reach the palace via taxi.

Activities
There is an assortment of activities for all travelers. Young travelers may be interested in the safari park and adventure park. In the Main Square there are places for kids to run around and a zoo. There is a large hedge maze and roaming garden grounds for a nice couples retreat. The palace is a wonder to look at as well.
Tips
This is a very family friendly place so if you don't enjoy the company of small children, it might be better to arrive very early or very late. The food is decent but nothing to write home about. It would be best to pick the ticket geared towards your preferred adventures and duration of stay. I visited for one day and found the palace and gardens to be enough. I would have liked to done the hedge maze but unfortunately time did not permit.
