The Weekender: June 2022 Edition

June was major catchup because we were out so much in May. Unfortunately my classes took up a lot of weekday free time after work which means I really wanted the weekends to unwind and relax.

Italian in the Neighborhood

We had a lovely meal with my husband’s uncle and his partner at a local Italian place. There are about four on a single block near us. I didn’t get photos of the food, but here’s my kitty reminding us that rest is necessary and some peonies I got in June because sometimes you have to treat yourself. Considering that the Italian was the highlight of this weekend, it’s easy to say that we spent a lot of times indoors and watching Netflix. I’ll have to get going on a list of amazing Italian spots in New York.

Stamford, Connecticut with Friends

My beloved friend and often travel buddy moved just a bit above the city. While the distance is a bit further, it won’t stop us from seeing each other. Stamford is a city I’ve always driven by on the way up to Boston but never stopped at. Unbeknownst to passerbys like myself, there is more to this place than a few corporate buildings. The food scene is building up and it was great to walk along the main area especially when there was an art fair going on. I got myself a handmade ceramic spoon rest! Besides traveling, I’m prone to shopping for house decor and kitchen items. I have to say my home is more well dressed than I am.

Hershey Park

Yes, Hershey as in the chocolate, and yes, Hershey as in Hershey Pennsylvania. We’ve been here for family trips many times and this time we got to show my younger cousins around. It was such a blast to see the park through new eyes. It’s about 2.5-3 hours from New York City, depending on how fast you drive. It certainly can be a day trip or an entire weekend. The surrounding area is bucolic and though I personally have yet to explore the city, it’s on the list.

Dimsum with Friends

Ok, but I’m really not good at getting photos. We’ll have to dig into the details of dimsum in a separate blog post. I did enjoy the company of two high school friends. We’re celebrating almost two decades of friendship which is such a feat and these times are absolutely cherished.
