Bird's-eye View in Lyon, France

Lyon was home for a solid two weeks when I was studying abroad for grad school. I'm not sure where I picked up the philosophy from, but every new city I go to, I try to find the bird's-eye view and memorize the map of the city. I find it centers me and lets me appreciate the city from a different point of view. It wasn't long before I found my way up to Fourvière with my friend/roomie for the two weeks (we're still friends!). No need to enter the cathedral - the squares that flank both sides of the famous cathedral offer gorgeous views.

Tips
The views of Lyon from this vantage point are unparalleled. The best part is, it's absolutely free to hike up this hill. I love the tram because it's adorable and the ride up offers some interesting views. If you can spare 1.80 euros, opt for the tram. If you have the "unlimited" ticket, take the tram multiple times. It also drops you off at the Roman Theatre if you wish so make sure you take the right tram up.
