Day 3
You've come to known most of Lyon as locals would like you know Lyon. Day 3 is full of options.
1. Go to Part-Dieu and explore more the commercial side away from the historic side of Lyon.
2. Go up to Croix-Rousse and wind your way down.
3. Take a train/bus to Perouges, a medieval city that's nicely preserved.
4. Take a car to Beaujolais and experience wine country. It's residential and spread out. You'll need a car.
It's the middle of January and part of my grad school's abroad program itinerary is to visit Perouges. A medieval walled town just north of Lyon. The oblong town traces its roots back to 8th century, according to locals, and was home to artisans, bakers, weavers, farmers, and the nobility. It was a stop along the way for nobles getting to Paris, the heart of the nation.
